Intro to Ed. observations
During the course of this semesters intro to Education class we have been taught not in the usual fashion of memorizing material but has instead focused on opening our minds as educators. During thursday february the fourteenth we participated in an activity of studying a photograph of soldiers in iraq with children in the background. Thinking like educators we had to think of why the photograph seemed odd or wrong. The simplest question of course was why were'nt these children in school. This raised a debate with several possible answers such as maybe their school was damaged or destroyed or maybe their school system works differently. This activity was very interesting and allowed us to grow as educators. This is an E posting.

Wow, that assignment sounds so interesting. That does raise a lot of questions and I wish I could do something like that in my class. It is also a little upsetting what those children are going through, they are so young and they probably dont really understand what it going on. It is really sad.
Hi, that is a great way of viewing material and opening your mind to new ideas, because students will come up with areas that we will never even think of and we need to be open minded to deal with the new questions...My brother just recently returned from Iraq, he was in an air force base in Al'asad(or i can spell it) and he was telling me that there were tons of children everywhere, poor children with dirty old clothes and not much food, he did not see many school building around, the former ones were destroyed. The thing he found most interesting was where were their parents? were they dead or off leaving their children to roam free. Why don't parents there take their children and neighboring children and start a sort of home school themselves. There are a lot of areas to think about when dealing with a situation like that, but not having a school is devastating to think about and i wish the best for that country and hope they start to look to better themselves and start with the children of their country.
